    Surveying the Future

    Survey technicians, cartographic technicians and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) pilots are the boots on the ground for the New York District when it comes to collecting the critical information required by engineers, project planners, and real estate specialists. The Survey Section of the New York District resides within the Operations Support Branch of Operations Division. The teams workload comes from every office in the District when there’s a need for geospatial mapping support. On any given day survey teams are in the field collecting hydrographic and topographic maps to support the delivery of the district’s civil works, military and interagency and international support missions.
  • ERDC researcher earns patent for high performance photocatalytic material

    Dr. Emily Asenath-Smith's determination to develop low energy solutions to remediate water led her to develop U.S. Patent No. 11,298,689, awarded April 12, 2022, for “Multi-spectral photocatalytic compounds.”
  • Two LRD teammates awarded FY22 Financial Managers of the Year

    On Tuesday, June 28, USACE Deputy Director of Resource Management Col. Rodney Gibson announced that not one, but two members from the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division Resource Management team were selected for FY 2022 USACE Financial Manager of the Year Awards.
  • Savings lead to SAVE Award for Middle East District

    Value methodology is a process that analyzes the different parts of a project, product, or process to ensure an optimal balance among factors such as cost, time, and safety according to the Society of American Value Engineering (SAVE). Although value engineering is not unique to USACE, every USACE district incorporates value engineering processes into their work. It’s not only mandated by law but has proven again and again to achieve the best results for both the Corps and its mission partners. In fact, USACE has gotten so good at the VE process that they recently won six out of the eight awards presented at a SAVE summit in June of this year.
  • Relief well installation project substantially complete

    A Memphis District Project Delivery Team recently completed work to construct 25 new relief wells in Scott County, Missouri. To execute the project, a contract for $1,630,303.15 was awarded to VuCon, LLC., in August 2018. The contract was administered by the Memphis District’s Caruthersville Area Office, and the job was declared substantially complete June 24, 2022.
