    Survivors of the Southern California wildfires are working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to clear piles of debris left behind by the unusually destructive January blazes. In the Eaton fire zone, the destruction wasn’t limited to residential housing — it also affected many organizations vital to the Altadena community.

  • Rangers recognized for exceptional service at USACE Nashville District

    On May 5, 2025, six Nashville District park rangers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were honored for exceptional service. Four received commander’s coins for achievements in water safety, mentorship, data reporting, and outreach. Two received Civilian Service Achievement Medals for over a decade of voluntary training in self-defense and visitor assistance. Leaders praised their dedication to public safety and natural resource stewardship across the district’s 284 recreation areas, which serve over 22.7 million visitors annually.
  • Rachel Napolitan Named USACE Public Affairs Officer of the Year

    Rachel Napolitan, Chief of Public Affairs for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Far East District (USACE FED), was named the 2024 USACE Public Affairs Officer of the Year April 25, 2025. The award is the highest individual honor within the USACE Public Affairs Community of Practice.

    Mr. Peter A. Ridilla, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pacific Ocean Division (USACE POD) programs director, was recognized during his Senior Executive Service (SES) induction ceremony on the U.S.S. Missouri, Honolulu, Hawaii on May 8, 2025.
