LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    This Thursday, people across the Pacific Northwest will use ovens to bake turkeys, air fryers to crisp vegetables, mixers to fluff mashed potatoes and OLED televisions to gawk at parades and sportsball. Likely, many people are grateful for the conveniences that make Thanksgiving preparations and entertainment relatively easy and enjoyable. However, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers humbly recommends giving appreciation for consistent, affordable and easily dispatchable hydropower (of course, USACE would suggest that).

    Topping Off and Giving Back

    The air over the construction site was crisp, carrying the familiar scents of wet concrete, diesel, and fresh steel. For months after the groundbreaking for the Veterans Administration’s El Paso Health Care Center, the symphony of progress had been one of deep percussion—pile drivers hammering into the earth—and the grating whine of saws. But today, a crescendo of voices rose together to celebrate the next major accomplishment, the topping off ceremony.

    USAG HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Spc. Jose D. Guerra, a Human Resources Specialist (42A) in the U.S. Army, is using the SkillBridge Program to bridge the gap between his military experience and his future civilian career. Stationed in South Korea after serving in Texas, California, and Poland, Guerra has seen firsthand how valuable the military’s leadership and structure can be. Now, through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District (FED), Guerra is preparing for a career in workforce management and leadership after his transition from the Army.

    The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville closed out Fiscal Year 2025 on Sept. 30 with more than 3,500 contract actions totaling $2.9 billion, supporting America’s warfighters and other federal agencies.

    Jacksonville District Deputy District Commander promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

    JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow Soldiers, Maj. Matthew Westcott was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel during a ceremony held Nov. 13, 2025, at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District Headquarters.
