  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines.

    SUFFOLK, Va. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host their quarterly public meeting regarding restoration efforts at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot Thursday. The Restoration Advisory Board meeting; which will take place at the Courtyard Marriott, located at 8060 Harbour View Blvd. in Suffolk at 6:15 p.m.; will feature discussions regarding the latest cleanup progress at the Superfund site.

    The Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District hosted a grand opening of Nawghaw Poa Road and a temporary visitor contact station at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area May 19.
  • DCV DRIFTMASTER leads the way proudly sporting Old Glory. The DCV DRIFTMASTER was followed by the guided missile destroyers USS Farragut (DDG99) homeported in Mayport, Florida, the USS Bainbridge (DDG96) from Norfolk, Virginia, and the amphibious assault carrier USS Bataan (LHD 5) also from Norfolk. A number of other ships participated in the parade, as well as a few Canadian warships.

    USACE Drift Collection Vessel Carries on Proud Tradition of Leading Parade of Ships during Fleet Week 2016

    NEW YORK-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Drift Collection Vessel DCV DRIFTMASTER isn’t the largest vessel compared to U.S. Navy combatants, but its mission is just as important as any warship that participated in Fleet Week’s 2016 Parade of Ships. The flotilla arriving in the New York Harbor May 25 was able to electrify onlookers along the shores of Brooklyn, Staten Island and along the promenade of the Hudson River in Manhattan due to the hard work of DCV DRIFTMASTER.
