Paul Olsen, Norfolk District commander, sign a Project Partnership Agreement this afternoon for the Craney Island Eastward Expansion project. This Corps-VPA partnership will have significant impacts on the local, regional, and national economy, doubling the capacity of the Port and generating more than 56,000 jobs over time.

  • Corps' partnership with Trinity River Authority saves time, money

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 18, 2012) – With a rich history of water management, the Trinity River Authority is known for providing services to more than 60 cities in the Trinity River basin and for supplying approximately 60 percent of the water for the City of Houston. But what you might not be aware of is that the TRA partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District in 1977 to issue permits at the Lake Livingston Project, saving permit applicants a substantial amount of time and taxpayers thousands of dollars each year.

    Nashville District breaks ground on Cheatham buildings destroyed in May 2010 flood

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (June 18, 2012) – Flood waters in May 2010 submerged the lock operations center and resource manager’s office at Cheatham Dam, forcing personnel to flee. When the water receded, buildings were uninhabitable, and the staff moved into trailers. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District continued the recovery today, breaking ground on the construction of new facilities.
