    Demonstration of the Deployable Expedient Traffic Entry Regulator, or DETER, vehicle barrier technology at the Indianapolis 500. ERDC in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) used DETER to create a temporary road closure at the event during race day.

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) had the opportunity to test and demonstrate the Deployable Expedient Traffic Entry Regulator, or DETER, vehicle barrier technology at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for the 108th running of the INDY 500, May 27, 2024.

    Go take a hike on Nashville District’s extensive network of trails

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 31, 2024) – On the eve of National Trails Day June 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District takes the opportunity to shed light on its extensive network of trails surrounding its 10 lakes in the Cumberland River Basin, spanning Tennessee and Kentucky.

    USACE scientists and engineers committed to CERP Science Driven Restoration

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 31, 2024) --- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District reflects on the hard work and dedicated efforts of their state partners as well as the scientist and engineers within the Corps and their unwavering commitment to Everglades restoration. USACE, and its state partners are making strategic efforts to restore, rehabilitate and reverse the damage inflicted in the past. This mission is no small task, the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) is an intensive project with far-reaching impacts on both the Everglades and its diverse wildlife, as well as the entire population of Florida.
  • Representatives from various city, state and federal agencies participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Phase One of the San Clemente Beach Nourishment project May 31 in San Clemente, Calif. The project includes the construction of a 50-foot-wide beach fill along a 3,412-foot-long stretch of shoreline, using 251,000 cubic yards of compatible sediment.

    Corps, city celebrates San Clemente beach expansion

    The City of San Clemente hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of part of its expanded beach May 31 in San Clemente. The event occurred following the completion of Phase One of the San Clemente Beach Nourishment project, which aims to reduce coastal storm damage along the city’s shoreline.
