    Memphis District appoints new engineering and construction division chief

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District promoted Shane Callahan to the engineering and construction division chief role. In this role, he is responsible for flood risk management, engineering and construction, navigation, ecosystem restoration, and water supply projects within the Memphis District's boundaries, including portions of Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.
  • Ruth Osburn, certified occupational health nurse specialist, served at ERDC for 17 years. Before joining ERDC in 2007, Osburn worked more than 30 years in Intensive Care Units, which included two Veterans Affairs hospitals.

    Ruth Osburn, who worked as a certified occupational health nurse specialist for the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Health Services Office for 17 years, officially retired Friday, July 12, after a 49-year nursing career.

    Leaders use continual improvement approach to support safety culture

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 26, 2024) – With very large construction and operations projects in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, creating a safe workplace is critical to mission success, and a responsibility every employee shares.
  • Glenda Canty, a contracting officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, excels in competitive women’s figure bodybuilding as a hobby. Since 2020, Canty has participated in the sport and is shown displaying some of the medals she has won from her competitions.

    Glenda Canty effortlessly balances two distinct roles with precision: by day, she oversees the allocation of Civil Works contracts for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District as a Contracting Officer and the Civil Works Section Chief. However, as the sun sets, Canty shifts her focus to a markedly different arena: competitive women’s figure bodybuilding.
