    LA District Conducts COOP Training in Phoenix

    The Los Angeles District Emergency Management team conducted the Continuity of Operations, or COOP, training exercise March 11-12 at the district’s area office in Phoenix.

    Congratulations to Ms. Ingrid Kimble on her selection as February Employee of the Month! According to her nomination, “Ms. Kimble has been very instrumental in boosting the Resource Management team’s morale by creating a welcoming professional environment to work in. She has a creative, helpful, gentle spirit and her willingness to MANUALLY work hard is unmatched. Ingrid coordinated with Contracting, ULA, and a moving company to collect old, unused, and broken-down equipment from three of Resource Management’s internal offices and had the equipment transferred to Ensley Engineer Yard.”

  • Army Corps Completes Coastal Project Ahead of Schedule; Engages Community

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, recently completed placing 500,000 cubic yards of sand along 4,100 feet of coastline in Downtown Montauk on the eastern tip of Long Island in New York’s Suffolk County. With favorable weather conditions allowing for completion ahead of schedule, the $11.7 million project also refurbished dunes eroded by a series of storms.

    Army Corps of Engineers’ employees in the New York District’s Survey and Mapping Branch, Operations Division, have been recognized with the 2023 Innovation of the Year Award from Army Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C., a national honor recognizing outstanding accomplishments in engineering forwarding the mission and serving the Nation.
