    Improving quality of life at Whiteman Air Force Base

    Everyone knows home is where the heart is. The Whiteman Air Force Base Resident Office with the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers understands this. That’s why they put their heart into making sure the Airmen at Whiteman Air Force Base have the best home possible. Recently, the team finished work on Discovery Hall, now the most updated dorm on base. This dorm was a team effort between USACE and the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base.

    ERDC takes award-winning robotics teams to the FIRST World Championships

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – Over two decades ago, the U.S. Army Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) created a robotics team that was formed with a mission to provide educational experiences for young people by promoting hands-on learning in the community. Today, Team 456 Siege Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team that is made up of about eighteen students from across central Mississippi.
  • The Mississippi River Commission conducted its annual high-water inspection trip April 8-12, 2024. Four public meetings aboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi also took place in selected towns along the river. The Commission and the Corps value the opportunity to hear issues and concerns firsthand through the public hearing process. Interaction with congressional, federal, and state interests, local boards, non-government organizations, and the public is crucial to the decision-making process for the nation's water resources. The Mississippi River Commission brings critical engineering representation to the drainage basin, which impacts 41% of the United States and includes 1.25 million square miles, over 250 tributaries, 31 states, and two Canadian provinces.

    The Mississippi River Commission conducted its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River, April 8-12, 2024. The commission held four public meetings in select towns while aboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi. The Memphis District stopped in two of the four cities for public meetings.
