LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, along with partners from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Walsh-Turner JV, marked a major construction milestone for the new Louisville VA Medical Center during a Topping Out ceremony onsite Nov. 30.

    White House Summit Highlights Program IWR Manages

    Since 2007 the Regulatory In-lieu fee and Bank Information Tracking System (RIBITS), overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Institute for Water Resources (IWR), has been the designated national tool to provide a one stop shop database for districts to track mitigation banks and in-lieu fee programs. RIBITS was one of a handful of systems highlighted at the first-ever Environmental Permitting Technology and Data Summit held at the White House and the General Service Administration Headquarters in late October.

    Korean military turns over final Pyeongtaek construction project to Army engineers in the U.S. military’s 16-year relocation effort

    With the stroke of two pens, the Republic of Korea and the United States finalized the last major construction project in Pyeongtaek for the relocation of American troops from Seoul to south of the Han River. A bilateral ceremony transferred the last facility in the program, a new chapel, from the ROK Design and Construction Agent (DCA) to their U.S. counterpart on Nov. 30, 2023, at Osan Air Base.
