    The Republic of Korea-U.S. Alliance Friendship Association conferred a Korean name, La, Hae-young, to Col. Heather Levy, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District, during a ceremony at the Korea Ministry of National Defense today.

    KULA, Maui, Hawaiʻi, -- After losing everything in the Aug. 8, 2023, Hawaiʻi Wildfire, Thomas Liu decided to rebuild in Maui’s upcountry where he retired in the 2000s. “I want to share my story, so people in the future won't be afraid to look for help from FEMA and the Corps of Engineers,” said Liu.

    All 43 of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Deputy District Engineers for Programs and Project Management (DPM) met in San Antonio, Texas, on October 20 for a two-day forum coined "The DPM Forum Top 6." DPMs gather twice yearly to share best practices, tackle the past year's challenges, and develop strategies that best move the organization ahead. Several representatives from USACE Headquarters, including the 55th Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon spoke to the group about all the incredible work the Corps is doing nationwide. The commander also touched on expressing capabilities, work acceptance, design maturity, and telling our story.
  • Corps of Engineers Rangers Honored for Lifesaving Rescue

    Two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers were awarded the Army Civilian Service Achievement Medal for a lifesaving rescue of an elderly hiker on New York’s Finger Lakes Trail. The 71-year-old hiker wandered off the trail in the 4,000-acre Mount Morris Recreation Area in early October and called the Mount Morris Dam for help.
