    Fuels program managers earn national recognition

    Jesus Ramirez and Tracy Helmick, program managers for the Center’s Fuels Recurring Maintenance and Minor Repair Program, both received the NPMA Program/Project Manager of the Year Award at the 2023 PETRO Expo Fuel Handling Summit.
  • First Bipartisan Infrastructure Law project is a story of success for the Walla Walla District

    The Walla Walla District recently completed dredging work at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers near Lewiston, Idaho and downstream of Ice Harbor Dam. This is the first project the district has completed using Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funds.
  • Fish Habitat/ Attractors

    Rangers and Maintenance Staff at John W. Flannagan, (JWF), teamed up with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources to build several fish habitat/ attractors. We were able to place these structures in different parts of the lake, two areas that would be suitable for winter pool and two areas that are suitable for summer pool.
  • Winfield Locks and Dam Tour

    Instructors Shawn Crow and Ethan Backus from Braxton County High School were able to bring their engineering class to Winfield Locks & Dam on March 30th to spend time looking at various applications of structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering techniques at the project.
  • From water to watts: A history of Ice Harbor Lock and Dam

    Ice Harbor Lock and Dam boasts some of the most cutting-edge hydropower technology in the world. Two advanced technology turbines currently sit in the powerhouse, with a third one on the way. These new turbines were designed to improve fish passage and generate electricity more efficiently.
