We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Planning and Programming team wins national awards

    The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville’s Planning and Programming Support team received national recognition at the American Planning Association’s National Federal Planning Division Conference for the second year in a row.

    Virginia Beach coastal storm risk management study by USACE, city looking for public feedback

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Virginia Beach are holding an in-person public scoping meeting and two virtual office hour sessions for the Virginia Beach Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) feasibility study.
  • Joanna Neu is a permit manager and serves as the Regulatory Division's Collateral Duty Safety Officer (CDSO). She provides safety updates to the Regulatory Team at the start of every monthly staff meeting, takes initiative to update the staff on current trends, and continues to ensure the team safely executes the regulatory mission. Recently, she identified the need to strengthen site visit accountability procedures. She got the buy-in from the entire team and then formally instructed the staff on the new accountability processes. The regulatory team has now been accident free for the past five fiscal years and with Joanna's leadership, they're on target to make it to six and beyond that without any problem whatsoever. Great job, Joanna! Way to look out and take the initiative. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

    Permit Manager Joanna Neu identified a need to strengthen site visit accountability procedures. After getting the Regulatory Team's buy-in, she followed through with formally instructing the staff on the newly created accountability processes. The regulatory team has been accident free for the past five fiscal years, and with Joanna's leadership, they're on target for another year free of any safety incidents, making their office accident-free for a total of six years.

    Gathright Dam pulse release set for Oct 12

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will conduct a pulse release at Gathright Dam, near Covington, Va., on Wednesday, 12 October 2022, beginning at approximately 6 a.m.
  • Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Soldiers inventroy equipment delivered under a U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville contract developed to provide equipment and materiel to 43 Army Brigades around the world transforming to the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness campaign.

    Contract provides for fit, healthy Soldiers

    Huntsville Center originally stood up the MO&T Program to support large Army replacement hospitals like Fort Bliss at a cost of $100 million. However, MO&T has outfitted medical projects as small as $400,000, and routinely provides medical outfitting support for all project sizes in between.
