    Beech Fork Lake Spring Cleanup

    Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to our Spring Cleanup! We had 107 people and picked up more than 150 bags of trash. Special thanks to the REAP (Make it Shine progam) for providing the bags, gloves, and trash receptacle. Also thank you to local businesses who donated prizes for our raffle; Bare Arms, Bombshell Burgers and BBQ, Kroger, Walmart, and Food Fair. Can't wait until next year! Stay safe out on the water and always remember to wear a life jacket!

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District conducted an earthquake continuity of operations exercise where key leaders moved operations from downtown Los Angeles to Phoenix, Arizona on March 11.
  • Transatlantic Division assists USCENTCOM with updating design, construction standards

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division provides direct support to U.S. Central Command, functioning as the primary provider of engineering services to the combatant command and numerous U.S. and foreign customers throughout the more than 4 million-square-mile area of operations. Exemplifying the USACE vision to provide engineering solutions for the nation’s toughest challenges, the Transatlantic Division is helping USCENTCOM with a major rewrite of its Sand Book, a manual outlining construction guidelines, while concurrently updating the Contingency Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) design standards and processes.
  • Center program supports Sigonella schools

    Huntsville Center’s Communication Infrastructure and Systems Support program, or CIS2, coordinated with Norfolk District to provide technical engineering, project management and acquisition support to equip the DoDEA Europe South District’s Sigonella Elementary School and Sigonella Middle High School with Uninterruptible Power Supply systems.
  • Norfolk District pours out the word on Virginia Flood Awareness Week

    This week is Virginia Flood Awareness Week, addressing the nation’s most common and costly natural disaster. The observance foreshadows the Atlantic hurricane season, which starts June 1, and is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Dam Safety and Floodplain Management – the commonwealth’s national flood insurance coordinator.
