    Engineer receives prestigious de Fleury Medal

    VICKSBURG, Miss. (April 15, 2019) – When David Richards was a recent college graduate working his first job as a hydrologist in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, he knew that he wanted to do research and make a significant impact in that world. Fast forward about 40 years, and that impact was recently recognized with the prestigious bronze de Fleury Medal awarded to Richards for his service to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

    District hosts ‘Bring Your Family to Work Day’

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2019) – Bringing kids to work is not just for kids anymore. Employees with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District just included spouses and parents in what is now being dubbed “Bring Your Family to Work Day.”

    Huntsville Center changes commanders, Hurley retires

    It was standing room only at the University of Huntsville in Alabama’s Chan Auditorium as a new commander took over the leadership and direction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, April 18.
  • Grand Coulee Dam includes three major hydroelectric power generating plants (named Third, Left, and Right) and the John W. Keys III Pump-Generating Plant. The facilities provide power generation, irrigation, flood risk management, and streamflow regulation for fish migration. Additional incidental benefits include providing flows for navigation and recreation. Grand Coulee Dam is the main feature of the Columbia Basin Project.
