    After heavy rainfall, Gathright Dam begins controlled flood release

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will began a controlled flood release at Gathright Dam near Covington, Virginia today.

    Veterans tour SF Bay Area onboard USACE vessel

    A group of 25 disabled veterans, family members, friends and caregivers boarded the M/V John A. B. Dillard, Jr., May 25 for a tour of such Bay Area landmarks as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz and concluding at AT&T Park for a Giants-Padres baseball game. The veterans are residents at the Veterans Community Services Living and Resource Rehabilitaion Center in Martinez, Calif.

    Corps prepares future student engineers at Summer Engineering Program

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 24, 2016) –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District collaborated with the Tennessee State University College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science Department to mentor science, technology, engineering and math students involved in a four-week National Summer Transportation Institute program on the campus of TSU June 20 through July 1.
  • City of Richmond, Virginia work crews install high water mark signs around the city marking the height of historic flood waters as part of the High Water Mark Initiative. The initiative was developed in partnership with Venture Richmond and the Virginia Silver Jackets and includes the Virginia Department of Conservation and recreation, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Federal Emergency Management Agency High Water Mark Initiative and Region III, National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office Wakefield, U.S. Geological Survey Water Science Center and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District to promote flood awareness within the city.

    Richmond to Unveil High Water Mark Intitiative

    The City of Richmond in partnership with state and federal agencies will unveil a High Water Mark Initiative at Pony Pasture Rapids Park, 7200 Riverside Drive, Richmond, VA on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 1 0 a.m. – 11 a.m.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 22, 2016) – Corps of Engineers employees from across the nation honed their professional skills at an instrumentation prospect course at J. Percy Priest Dam June 14-16, 2016.
