    WABASHA, Minn. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District employees Al VanGuilder, left, survey technician, and Bill Chelmowski, marine machinery mechanic, use an airboat to measure ice on Lake Pepin, near Wabasha, Minn., Feb. 13, during the first Mississippi River ice surveys of the year. The district conducts the annual ice surveys to help the navigation industry determine when it is safe to break through the ice. Lake Pepin, located on the Mississippi River between Red Wing and Wabasha, Minn., is used as the benchmark because the ice melts slower in this area due to the lake width and the slower current.

    Arlington National Cemetery to share design for Millennium expansion project

    Arlington National Cemetery is interested in sharing information about the new design and obtaining public feedback about the project, and has scheduled an open house and site visit on Saturday, March 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. The open house will begin with a briefing at the Women In Military Service for America Memorial (WIMSA) and then transition to a site visit of three areas associated with the Millennium Project.
  • Langley Air Force Base, VA -- The new 2,700-square-foot veterinary clinic officially opened here Feb. 28, 2013. The clinic’s features – three exam rooms, a full dental suite, surgery room and radiology capabilities – expand on the simple vaccinations and minor routine procedures offered at the old location. The Army-staffed clinic, built to LEED Silver standards, is available to Airmen and military retirees and performs veterinary care for the security forces’ working dogs here.     New veterinary clinic expands Langley's pet services

    Langley Air Force Base, VA – Army and Air Force officials made the transition to a new veterinary clinic official here Thursday. The clinic replaces an aging cinder block building that provided few pet services.

  • Army Corps completes multi-purpose chapel at Dover Air Force Base

    On February 25, 2013, the Philadelphia District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, together with officials from the 436th Airlift Wing and from Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations, participated in a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony to officially open the newest building at Dover Air Force Base -- the Chapel Center.
