    AFGHANISTAN — Staff Sgt. Andrew Miltenberger operates a remote-controlled submersible at Dahla Dam. Staff Sgt. Miltenberger is a member of 569th Engineer Dive Detachment, which deployed to Afghanistan to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan Engineer District-South, by conducting hydrographical surveys and inspections of underwater structures at Kajaki and Dahla Dams.

    Six members of a unique Army unit - engineer divers from the 569th Engineer Dive Detachment - recently spent 30 days in southern Afghanistan, conducting underwater surveys to help the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan Engineer District-South prepare for major repair projects at Kajaki and Dahla dams.

    USACE reservist gets help from A's in making daughter's 16th birthday sweet

    Allie Pearce celebrated her 16th birthday on June 22 by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Oakland Athletics game against the San Francisco Giants at Oakland Coliseum. Her birthday was made a little less sweet since her father, Army Specialist Scott Pearce, is in Afghanistan for a year-long deployment.
  • HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Will Irby, Installation Support and Programs Management, provides information to more than 40 visiting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers district civil works program managers regarding various U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville programs. Irby concentrated much of his briefing on the Center's energy programs.

    Visits from the deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and two senior executive service members provided the Huntsville Center with opportunities to promote its ability to play major roles in the Army's Energy Campaign Plan.
  • Advanced power meters like this one installed at a facility on Redstone Arsenal, Ala. have been monitoring energy use around the U.S. Army for some time. The Army Metering Program recently earned network certification for systems that will allow these meters to report their data across the service's enterprise network.

    Meter systems earn network certification

    The Army Central Metering Program aims to meet requirements of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 by providing customers with a centralized view of energy and water consumption and energy efficiency and management.

  • R&D centers collaborate to enhance mission planning capabilities, engineers win award

    Engineers from the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command's communications-electronics center, or CERDEC, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's Engineer Research and Development Center, or ERDC, received the Outstanding Collaborative Research and Development Achievement Award for their work to automate route planning capabilities for the Command Post of the Future.
