    Nashville District names Cox Employee of the Month for January 2023

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mar.30, 2023) – Gregory Cox, work leader for Fort Loudoun and Melton Hill Locks, is named U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Employee of the Month for January 2023. Cox is recognized for his involvement in the creation of a custom platform with steps for deckhands and the design of a customized safety compliant lock ladder for potential use on all Tennessee River locks lower guard and guide walls.
  • Corps, partners break ground on new Simulations Center at Fort Irwin

    Senior leaders with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Fort Irwin broke ground March 23 on a new Simulations Center at the installation, which is home to the National Training Center. “It has been a 10-year journey to get us here, but this is a critical inflection point in Fort Irwin’s history, and, more importantly, in where we are going as an Army,” said Brig. Gen. Curtis Taylor, commanding general of the National Training Center. “It just so happens that this project came to fruition in just the right time.”

  • Communities spanning two counties dedicate Periwinkle Trail

    GRANVILLE, Tenn. (March 28, 2023) - The communities of Smith County, Jackson County and the “Friends of Cordell Hull Lake” dedicated Periwinkle Trail March 25, 2023, at the Indian Creek Archery Range trailhead. The newly constructed trail provides hikers a new path to experience the outdoors and creates a bond between the two counties.
  • New Alcoa Dike floodgate to help protect Corona community

    The Los Angeles District completed the installation of a 19-ton floodgate March 10 on the Alcoa Dike alongside the Temescal Wash in Corona, California.
