LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

  • Memphis District Commander Col. Brian Sawser and several members of the district leadership team traveled to Mhoon Bend, Mississippi, on July 12, to visit the district's Bank Grading Unit team and observe the new bank grader, Grader 1, in action for the first time since its arrival and christening earlier this year. With this year’s revetment season now in full swing, the BGU is laser-focused on accomplishing two key objectives, with the first being training, both contractor-led and on-the-job, to attain the necessary certifications and practice according to each employees' role. Additionally, unit operators will use this first test site to calibrate the newly constructed machine, ensuring it's “put through the paces,” so to speak.     New Bank Grading Unit “Grader 1” | Begins season with focus on calibration, training

    Memphis District Commander Col. Brian Sawser, Deputy District Engineer for Programs and Project Management Donny Davidson, Operations Division Chief Andrea Williams, Channel Improvement Project Manager Zach Cook, and Regional Channel Improvement Coordinator Jake Storz, traveled to Mhoon Bend, Mississippi, on July 12, to visit the Memphis District Bank Grading Unit team and observe the new bank grader, Grader 1, in action for the first time since its arrival and christening earlier this year. The district’s Bank Grading Unit (BGU) is the second field activity of Revetment Operations following the Clearing and Snagging Unit. It grades the banks of the Mississippi River to the proposed design slopes to support the sinking of Articulated Concrete Mattress (ACM) performed by the Vicksburg District’s Mat Sinking Unit.

    Foster eliminates ‘hot spots’ at Barkley power plant and restores connectivity

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 14, 2023) – The construction team at Barkley Dam Powerplant has reliable internet, thanks to Lance Foster, an information technology specialist in the Electronic Service Section. For his hard work and dedication, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District named Foster Employee of the Month for May 2023.

    Lock operator returns home to Guam to support Typhoon Mawar recovery

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 11, 2023) – Old Hickory Lock Operator Anthony Certeza recently deployed to Guam in the aftermath of Typhoon Mawar, which devastated his native island in late May. He performed home inspections and literally assisted his own parents who lost power and needed his help.
