    LANCASTER, Tenn. — This fishing boat capsized in the tailwater of Center Hill Dam Aug. 16, 2012 during sluice gate releases. Two people were rescued thanks to quick-thinking, experience and teamwork between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District officials and a nearby fisherman.

  • WINCHESTER, Va. — Pierce Hamilton, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District's first Workforce Recruitment Program summer hire. Hamilton, who attends the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, is the district's first summer hire under the Workforce Recruitment Program, sponsored by the Departments of Defense and Labor. DOD's goal is to increase the number of individuals with disabilities in the workforce.

    Colorado Lagoon takes second step toward restoration

    The third and final phase, anticipated to occur in the next five years, will construct an open water conveyance between the lagoon and the adjacent Marine Stadium Park, and the Pacific Ocean, to reestablish a more natural tidal flow.

    Teacher’s Summer at CRREL Is about Threes

    ERDC Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) summer contract Research Technician Trudy Fadden inventories, by height and number, the trifoliate leaf structure of pigeon-wing recently in CRREL’s greenhouse. Pigeon-wing, clitoria fragrans, is a trifoliate, meaning that it has three leaflets. It is a rare species of flowering plant in the legume family.
