    Storm damaged after Hurricanes Marco and Laura in 2020. A multidisciplinary ERDC team is working to modernize widely used flood models such as StormSim and Hydrologic Engineering Center software by developing a vegetation index that more comprehensively quantifies vegetation stability on coastal levees.     Allison Stefanelli had a passion for the outdoors and all things nature from an early age. When it came time to start her career after college, she decided to go in a direction that still involved the environment and nature but not to the extent that she’s used to experiencing. That changed after speaking to someone from the Corps of Engineers.

    A researcher with the U. S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Environmental Laboratory (EL) is receiving recognition for his role in protecting the environment. Taylor Rycroft, a research environmental engineer, was named the 2024 USACE Researcher of the Year for his work with the Wellbot and Cyanobacterial Suppression Through Ultraviolet-C Neutralization (CyanoSTUN) technologies.

    New Access Control Point to Increase Security at Upstate NY Military Facility

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is constructing Gillespie Gate ─ a new Access Control Point (ACP) at Watervliet Arsenal in upstate New York that will provide enhanced security for military and Army Corps employees and the missions they oversee. A U.S. Army-owned and operated manufacturing facility, its artillery products have helped hundreds of thousands of servicemen and women fight and win our Nation's battles and come home safely.
