    Regulatory Division preserving Mobile District’s water resources

    The Regulatory Division is one of the more public faces of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District. The Regulatory Division is responsible for protecting the nation’s aquatic resources and maintaining the navigable capacity of its waters while allowing reasonable development through fair, timely, and balanced permit decisions.

    Brand-new home for Soldiers opens at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys

    New barracks for unaccompanied enlisted Soldiers are officially opened at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys. Representatives from the installation, unit moving into the buildings, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District and the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense – Defense Installation Agency joined to cut the ribbon in a ceremony on May 31, 2024.

    USACE ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF CHIEF’S REPORT FOR OAKLAND HARBOR TURNING BASINS STUDY

    Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon, 55th chief of engineers and commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, signed the Chief’s Report for the Oakland Harbor Turning Basins Widening Study on May 31, 2024, during a ceremony at USACE Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The milestone represents a culmination of four years of study between the USACE San Francisco District and the Port of Oakland, the non-federal project sponsor. More importantly, the signing of the report advances the project to Congress for authorization.

  • Demonstration of the Deployable Expedient Traffic Entry Regulator, or DETER, vehicle barrier technology at the Indianapolis 500. ERDC in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) used DETER to create a temporary road closure at the event during race day.

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) had the opportunity to test and demonstrate the Deployable Expedient Traffic Entry Regulator, or DETER, vehicle barrier technology at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for the 108th running of the INDY 500, May 27, 2024.
