    Green becomes 68th commander of Nashville District

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 16, 2023) – Lt. Col. Robert W. Green took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 68th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.
  • Dike restoration project minimizes excessive dredging, supports river

    The Memphis District completes dozens of projects annually to ensure a safe and reliable waterway, most recently partnering with Commercial Towing Interests, represented by the Lower Mississippi River Committee (LOMRC), to carry out a dike construction and restoration project in New Madrid, Missouri.
  • ERDC Researchers Co-lead Multiagency Team to Service Prototype Underwater Acoustic Deterrent System

    Researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), along with scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other partners, are currently working on a project to test the effectiveness of underwater sound technology on invasive carps — Bighead Carp, Silver Carp, Black Carp and Grass Carp — and the response of various native species of interest throughout the Mississippi River and Great Lakes basins, as well as additional native watersheds.
  • USACE’s Albuquerque District signs design agreement for Middle Rio Grande flood protection project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District signed a design agreement for a flood control project with the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, June 13, 2023. The agreement allows USACE to begin Pre-construction Engineering and Design of the Middle Rio Grande, Bernalillo to Belen project, which is intended to reduce flood risk along the Rio Grande.
