The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Nashville District pushes full STEAM ahead with teacher focused externships

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June. 12, 2023) – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math educators from Metro Nashville Public Schools and Clarksville-Montgomery County School System wanted to find creative ways to educate their students and bridge the gap between learning and practical application. They turned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District for inspiration.
  • Zahraa Al Khafaji, project engineer with the Chicago District, was selected as a participant for the ERDC University Class of 2023. Her six-month project at ERDC’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory in Vicksburg, Miss., focuses on processes to become a concrete specialist for this USACE critical area, which provides the primary construction material for civil works and military structures.

    Chicago District’s Zahraa Al Khafaji selected for ERDC University

    Researchers from 10 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Districts have been selected for the 2023 session of the Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U). Project Engineer Zahraa Al Khafaji of the Chicago District has been chosen as a participant for this detail program, now in its eighth year.

    The Ridgeview Elementary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place on June 9 in Clintwood, VA at the new Ridgeview Elementary School. This event celebrated the completion of a Section 202 project that provided flood protection for Dickenson County Schools.

    Safety at the Tip of the Spear – USACE Transatlantic Division highlights Safety program across the CENTCOM AOR

    The Transatlantic Division serves as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world. Ensuring that building strong is synonymous with building safely, the Transatlantic Division’s Safety Office maintains an unwavering dedication to the well-being of the service members and civilians who execute the nearly $5 billion dollar program in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Forces Command and other global partners across the Middle East and Central Asia. The CENTCOM AOR presents unique and varied safety challenges, from diverse environments like deserts, seaports, and urban areas, to wide ranging cultural considerations and diversity of languages, as well as security considerations surrounding ongoing military operations. The Transatlantic Division and its Districts overcomes all of this and continues to set the standard for Safety programs in the region.
