LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Bruce Bennett, dissolved oxygen facilities manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, and Kate Dixon, design branch chief, lead a technical information tour of the lower Savannah River dissolved oxygen plant to attendees from the 2022 Hydraulic Institute Conference on Oct. 24, 2022. The Hydraulic Institute develops standards and technical resources for pump systems. They are responsible for publishing national standards covering pump and system nomenclature, definitions, design, application, installation, operation, maintenance, and testing.     Hydraulic Institute Conference attendees tour Corps’ dissolved oxygen plant

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Attendees of the Hydraulic Institute Fall Conference visited the lower Savannah River dissolved oxygen plant operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Oct. 24, 2022.
  • Presently based in Mobile, Alabama, as an emergency operations specialist with the USACE Reachback Operations Center (UROC), Theodore Lee coordinates requests for information from the field, has deployed as a Blue Roof data manager, and manages training and equipment operations, among other duties. The Office of Research and Technology Transfer, which coordinates patents for ERDC, will recognize Lee in 2023 for his achievements with a patent presentation ceremony and placement of an additional plaque on the patent recipients’ wall at ERDC headquarters.

    While the convenience of Global Positioning System (GPS) can assist drivers to desired locations, pilots can also depend on it to locate runways that have been renamed as the result of shifting magnetic fields, thus assuring passengers’ safety.

  • Craney Island mosquito spraying scheduled tomorrow

    NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, will conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Wednesday, November 2, over federal properties on Craney Island, adjacent city properties, and the Churchland area in Portsmouth.
