    Between March 13 and March 23, 2019, per preliminary analysis by the National Weather Service, over 50 gages on the Missouri River and its tributaries in the region set new stage records. Nearly all of these new records were on unregulated areas of the Missouri Basin -- tributaries and the Missouri River downstream of Gavins Point Dam.

    The historic nature of the 2019 flood, in addition to severe flooding that has occurred over the past decade, served as a catalyst for the governors of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri to come together to discuss solutions for improving the resiliency of the lower Missouri River Basin.

    From Army Corps to Peace Corps and back

    Patricia Fontanet, a water resources planner with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, decided to put her Corps of Engineers-acquired skills to work in helping the people of La Trinidad, Philippines. She recently took on a seven-month assignment with the Peace Corps, working on projects such as developing a flood study, teaching disaster preparedness at elementary schools, and much more.

    Congratulations to the Memphis District Grand Prairie Widened Canal Project Delivery Team (PDT) for reaching their Pre-final Inspection milestone. On June 17, PDT members met on-site with contractor Southern Contracting to inspect construction work and develop a punch list of remaining items required to finish construction.

    District, Portsmouth announce mosquito-spraying date under new contract award

    NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Portsmouth are slated to conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Wednesday over federal property on Craney Island, adjacent city properties and the Churchland area.
