    The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 requires federal agencies, including USACE, to consider the potential environmental impacts of their proposed actions and any reasonable alternatives before undertaking a major federal action.

    What is the No Action Alternative?

    The National Environmental Policy Act requires agencies to always describe and analyze a “no action” alternative in an EIS. In simple terms, a No Action alternative for an existing or ongoing federal project considers what would happen if the federal agency continued to operate and maintain the authorized project with no changes.
  • Adult fish passage facilities include one ladder with entrances on both shores and a fish channel through the spillway, which connects to the powerhouse fish collection system and south shore ladder. Modifications to improve adult Pacific Lamprey passage include ladder improvements, passage structures and installation of metal plating to assist lamprey upstream.
