    Corps to conduct second pulse release from Gathright Dam

    Operators at Gathright Dam near Covington, Virginia, are scheduled to conduct a pulse release of water from Lake Moomaw Wednesday, August 15.

    Powell named Nashville District Employee of the Month for June 2018

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2018) – Janelle Powell, Resource Management Branch budget analyst, is the Nashville District Employee of the Month for June 2018.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and its contractor partner Johnson Brothers put a 1.3 million pound concrete shell into position Aug. 6, 2018 on the riverbed on downstream end of Kentucky Lock where it will be part of a coffer dam and eventually a permanent part of the new lock wall for the Kentucky Lock Addition Project. It is the first of 10 shells that will be placed over the next year. The lock is located at Kentucky Dam, which is a Tennessee Valley Authority project at Tennessee River mile 22.4.     Heavy concrete shell placement at Kentucky Lock not taken lightly

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (Aug. 9, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District successfully placed the first 1.3 million pound concrete shell on the riverbed Aug. 6 that will be part of the downstream cofferdam and the permanent lock wall for the Kentucky Lock Addition Project.
  • Peter DeMattei, Elaine Lawson, Margaret Jones, Daryl Puffinburger, and Daniel Rivera spent time on Capitol Hill to learn about Congressional operations. DeMattei and Puffinburger, program managers with the Middle East District, are enrolled in the leadership development program, and Jones and Lawson manage the Tier III program for the Transatlantic Division. Rivera is a TAD program manager.

    LDP provides opportunity on Capitol Hill

    Leaders in the Transatlantic Division’s leadership development program recently broadened their exposure to Congressional affairs and the operations of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers headquarters. Middle East District program managers Daryl Puffinburger and Peter DeMattei spent three days on Capitol Hill and another day with senior military and civilian leaders at USACE headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Government Affairs Institute sponsored the USACE Congressional briefing.
