    Gathright Dam to begin controlled flood release today due to weekend rainfall

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin a controlled flood release at Gathright Dam near Covington, Virginia today.

  • Much anticipated cleanup of contaminated site in Luckey, Ohio begins

    Excitement was in the air of Building 6 on the Buffalo District reservation the afternoon of Apr.16, 2018. The Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) project delivery team for a site in Luckey, Ohio was waiting to hear from the field that the Phase 1 cleanup began. At 4:08 p.m. the first photo was taken; the Luckey site contractor, North Wind-Portage, had just started excavating soil contaminated with beryllium, lead, radium-226, thorium-230, uranium-234 and uranium-238 from the Phase 1 cleanup area of the site.

    Fleischmann, DesJarlais see progress during tour to Chickamauga Replacement Lock

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 10, 2018) – Congressmen Chuck Fleischmann, Tennessee 3rd District, and Scott DesJarlais, Tennessee 4th District met with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Tennessee Valley Authority representatives, toured the existing and new lock project and addressed the media about funding and progress Monday morning April 9, 2018.
  • In first and second grades, Sacramento District’s Matt Valentine was good at drawing mazes. He was given some graph paper, started drawing floor plans and then found out the task was something people actually got paid to do!

    Matt Valentine, an architect with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, learned about career opportunities in the Corps during an architecture job fair at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Nine years later, Valentine represented the district at the 2018 edition of the same job fair.
