    The Charleston District conducted ship simulations at the Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Miss. The simulations test the conditions of the current design for the Post 45 harbor deepening project to finalize plans for the future of the harbor.

  • Jennifer Murphy-Mason, a Savannah District contracting officer, wins the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 2015 Procurement Contracting Officer of the Year for major contributions to two features of the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project. Murphy-Mason is pictured Aug. 8 with her award, symbolizing the culmination of managing more than 1,249 contract actions valuing $674 million during the nominating period. Murphy-Mason accepted the award July 26 at the National Contract Management Association World Congress held in Orlando, Florida. Her 14-year Corps career began as a student in the district's Contracting Division in 2002. In 2010, she received a contracting officer warrant, which allows contracting staff to obligate the government for contracting actions. 2015 was a breakout year for Murphy-Mason, who won her first national awards for PCO of the Year and Project Development Team of the Year, the latter received for her contributions to a collective effort.

    Top contracting officer wins prestigious USACE award

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Besting more than 400 eligible procurement contracting officers across the Corps of Engineers, Jennifer Murphy-Mason was recognized nationally as the Procurement Contracting Officer of the Year for fiscal year 2015.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District held its change of command ceremony at the Soldiers and Sailors Museum in Pittsburgh, Pa., July 29.
  • Tony Ellis, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Kentucky Lock Addition Project resident engineer, inspects a small vertical karstic feature in the limestone during excavation for the new lock April 12, 2012. Ellis, 53, passed away July 27, 2016. He is being lauded for his leadership and expertise that have been instrumental in the project’s success.

    Resident engineer’s legacy lives on at Kentucky Lock

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2016) – The resident engineer for one of the Nashville District’s largest and longest projects, the Kentucky Lock Addition Project, passed away unexpectedly July 27 from natural causes, a shocking loss to the Corps of Engineers, the district, the resident and project office teams, and many, many friends, family, colleagues, and contractors who knew and served with him.
