    Huntington’s Housing Team Deploys to Louisiana

    The first wave of help from the Huntington District has made its way to flood-damaged areas of Louisiana (near Baton Rouge) to help provide housing for those who lost their homes in the disaster.

(Sept. 16, 2016) – Corps of Engineers employees shared their experiences and expertise with students today for Science and Engineering Day at Stratford STEM Magnet High School where they received information about careers in hydropower, navigation, natural resources, water management and emergency operations.

  • The line of defense around Vicksburg as designed and constructed consisted of nine major forts connected by a continuous line of rifle-pits. The line was anchored on the Mississippi river above and below the city and guarded all land access to Vicksburg.     100-year-old National Park Service's roots go deeper with U.S. Army

    This year, the National Park Service celebrates its 100th anniversary. Yellowstone National Park, the world’s first national park established in 1872 by President Ulysses Grant, has close ties to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The connection between the National Park Service and USACE is one that has continued through the years.
