    Workers with West Point Contractors, Inc., the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Los Angeles District’s contractor, clear rocks and vegetation Apr. 9 as they prepare to construct a bridge across the Chula Vista Wash in Nogales, Ariz. The $4M project will consist of constructing a two-span, I-girder concrete bridge, install associated road base and approach slabs, and placing grouted riprap both upstream and downstream of the project in the channel.

    Nogales Wash bridge project back underway

    There’s a new $4M bridge being built here and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is overseeing its construction, which began March 30.The project will consist of constructing a two-span, I-girder concrete bridge, install associated road base and approach slabs, and placing grouted riprap both upstream and downstream of the project in the channel.
  • The Wankel T.rex is prepared for exhibit in its original “death pose” at Montana State University’s Museum of the Rockies, Bozeman, Mont., 2005. The Wankel T.rex died in a riverbed more than 65 million years ago and was discovered by Kathy Wankel, a Montana rancher, near the Fort Peck Reservoir in Eastern Montana in 1988.

    Tyrannosaurus Rex to embark on cross country journey

    OMAHA, Neb. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District’s Wankel Tyrannosaurus Rex will soon travel from Montana, where it has resided for the past 66 million years, to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
  • Veterans Vadi Dodge and Doug Blain rehabilitate historic maps in the Veterans Curation Program lab in St. Louis as part of their work supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ mission to preserve and manage the Army’s vast archaeological collection. The VCP has three labs in which veterans receive technical training in preserving and archiving archaeological collections under the direct supervision of professionals in the field of archaeology.

    ST. LOUIS - In an unassuming office in St. Louis, Dr. Michael "Sonny" Trimble and his team are working to get a 66-million-year-old, seven-ton tyrannosaurus safely packed and moved cross-country. This effort is just one part of a greater undertaking to preserve and share America's cultural and natural history.
  • The final crate of the inventory and condition reporting for the Wankel T.rex before departing the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Mont., for the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
