    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District welcomed the 62nd Engineer Detachment home June 26 during a ceremony at the district headquarters building. The team was deployed September 2012 through June 2013 at Shindand Air Base, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

    GALVESTON, Texas (July 1, 2013) – Managing operations in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Regulatory Branch of the Corpus Christi Regulatory Field Office isn’t always easy. With wetland issues to be resolved, jurisdictional determinations to be made and violation claims regarding both the Clean Water Act and the Rivers and Harbors Act to be reviewed and investigated, even Supervisor Lloyd Mullins, a 12-year veteran, says though he has his share of difficult days there is no other place he’d rather be working.

    Fighting drownings like a firefighter

    It is a common misperception that firefighters merely fight fires. Actual firefighting takes up only a small percentage of the time firefighters spend on duty. Another important part of their time is spent educating others about fire prevention and fire safety. This concept rings true for the park rangers and natural resource specialists at lakes areas across the Omaha District who include outreach and water safety education among their regular responsibilities.
