We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    PHOENIX - The Tres Rios Phase III Flow Regulating Wetlands, built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, received the 2012 Crescordia award from the Valley Forward Association in the Site Development and Landscape: Public Sector category. As part of Phase III, the District removed invasive plants along the river in order to help bring back a riparian corridor populated by more native vegetation.

    Tres Rios project wins Valley Forward award

    The Tres Rios Phase III Flow Regulating Wetlands received the 2012 Crescordia award from the Valley Forward Association in the Site Development and Landscape: Public Sector category. The awards program is the benchmark in Phoenix for promoting livability, conserving natural resources and sustaining the valley's desert environment for future generations.
  • Traditionally dressed Serbian students welcome representatives from the U.S. European Command, U.S. Embassy Belgrade, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District, Serbian government and the local community with bread and salt to celebrate the completion of the school's sports gymnasium in Pranjani September 24, 2012. The EUCOM funded and USACE managed humanitarian assistance project included a 1,580-square-meter sports gymnasium with locker room facilities. The gym was originally started by the municipality, but never completed due to lack of funding. The project also included the installation of indoor bathroom facilities and general renovations to the existing building (new flooring, exterior doors and windows, entry canopy and paint). The project was completed in the town of Pranjani as a small token of thanks. During World War II more than 500 airmen were shot down over occupied Serbia and rescued by local Serbians who ultimately assisted in the largest evacuation of troops behind enemy lines in history. The people of Pranjani were instrumental in the success of the Halyard Mission rescue, building an airstrip to enable the evacuation. Through partnership and the successful completion of this project the people of the U.S. and Serbia continue to cultivate their friendship.

    PRANJANI, Serbia --The cheers of more than 520 World War II Allied airmen being evacuated from Pranjani is a 68-year-old memory for the residents of this rural, farming village.

  • USACE gives Wounded Warriors on Kandahar Airfield a little slice of home

    KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan -- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees support recovering Wounded Warriors on Kandahar Airfield by donating items and voluteering to host Wounded Warriors on the Afghanistan Engineer District-South compound for movie night, game night, holiday celebrations and inpromptu get-togethers.

  • Afghanistan Engineer District-South builds strong in 2012

    KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan-- Building on the significant public infrastructure progress that was achieved in fiscal year 2011, the Afghanistan Engineer District-South closed fiscal year 2012 having awarded 102 contracts and achieved almost 96 percent of its construction placement goal for the year; an 8.5 percent increase compared to last year.

    CAMP ZAMA, Japan -- Japan Engineer District representatives here continued a nearly 20-year tradition recently when the unit's deputy commander and Forward Engineer Support Team leader were hosted by Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Engineer School officials at Camp Katsuta in Ibaraki prefecture.
