    Roundtable promotes STEM career opportunities, workforce diversity

    Leaders and staff from the Southwestern Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, participated in a STEM Roundtable at Dallas’ Townview School of Science and Engineering on Sept. 28, discussing one-on-one with students and faculty the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

  • Warrior hunt at BA Steinhagen Lake nets monster gator for recovering Soldiers, veterans

    Poe and Boorse, along with retired Staff Sgt. William Bighouse and former U.S. Marine Cpl. Cody E. Hammer, took part in a wounded warrior alligator hunt hosted by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Pineywoods Ecosystem Project and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District’s Town Bluff Project Office.

    New Border Patrol station named for Brian A. Terry opens

    Members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District joined with state and national representatives along with family and friends to honor Brian A. Terry, a border patrol agent who was fatally shot while on duty Dec. 14, 2010, during the dedication ceremony of the Brian A. Terry Border Patrol Station held Sept. 18 in Bisbee, Ariz.
  • DAVIS-MONTHAN AFB, Ariz. - Dr. Christine Altendorf, USACE Headquarters Chief of Environmental Division, pauses for a photo with Air Force Col. Kevin E. Altendorf visited the base to tour military and Corps projects in the Southern Arizona area to see how the USACE Los Angeles District is implementing sustainaibility initiatives and how they could be taken to a Corps-wide level.

    USACE Environmental chief visits southern Arizona

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District hosted Dr. Christine Altendorf, the USACE Environmental Division chief during a two-day visit Aug. 29-30 to the southern Arizona area. Her visit focused on sustainable projects by the District and other agencies on and around military and federal properties.
  • Fran Firouzi, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District project manager for Formerly Used Defense Sites, looks at the surface of a property near Kingman, Ariz., for signs of hazardous material. The District is working on a plan to contact residents about a Time Critical Removal Action for the site which was used as a skeet range when the area was part of the Kingman Ground-to Gound Gunnery Range.

    District readies FUDS work for Kingman area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is preparing for work at the Formerly Used Defense Site just outside of Kingman, Ariz. The District has approved the Time Critical Removal Action for the former Skeet Range, which is referred to as Munitions Response Site 03, of the former Kingman Ground-to-Ground Gunnery Range.
