LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Leadership Sacramento turns Corps planner into community leader

    Kim Carsell, a planner with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, is now a graduate of the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Leadership Sacramento program and helped complete its largest-ever community service project: building an amphitheater for Sacramento educational non-profit Soil Born Farms.

    Nashville, Tenn. (Dec. 21, 2012) -- A Nashville District mechanical engineer recently volunteered to share his knowledge and energize a group of local middle school children for an upcoming national science competition.

    Series of public meetings held for Central Everglades Planning Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District hosted a series of public meetings to present the proposed final array of alternatives for the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) and give all interested individuals, groups and agencies an opportunity to comment and ask questions.
  • Two robotics teams compete head-to-head with the autonomous LEGO MINDSTORM robots they programmed to perform specific functions as the judges watch. The teams were competing in the Tulsa FIRST LEGO League qualifying event Nov. 10 at Memorial High School. The robots carry out the functions on a 4 by 8 foot surface. The FIRST LEGO League is a robotics program designed to get children excited about science and technology while teaching them employment and life skills.

    TULSA, Okla. - A group of engineers from the Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers helped out with the Tulsa FIRST LEGO League qualifying event Nov. 10 as part of the district's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach program.
