LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District began increasing releases from Carlyle Lake, Ill., Dec. 15, 2012, in support of safe navigation on the Mississippi River. Carlyle Lake is a multipurpose project located along the Kaskaskia River in Southern Illinois, providing flood damage reduction, recreation, water supply, downstream navigation and fish and wildlife conservation.

  • NATO special operations forces, comprised of 26 member nations and three non-NATO partners, celebrate the completion of a new state-of-the-art, 23,000-square-foot headquarters building during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 12 at SHAPE in Mons, Belgium. NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Adm. James Stavridis, center left, and Lt. Gen. Frank Kisner, NATO Special Operations Headquarters commander, addressed distinguished guests and expressed their desire for the building to serve as an ideas hub for 21st-century special operations.

    MONS, Belgium -- U.S. and international military officials have cut the ribbon on a state-of-the-art facility constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District that will enable the NATO special operations forces community to plan, coordinate and conduct vital missions around the globe.

    Joint project develops airfield damage repair materials, techniques

    Wanted: Airfield Damage Repair material, equipment and procedures to repair runways used by U.S. Air Force (USAF) fighter jets and cargo planes. The goal is to repair 120 craters in 6.5 hours using up to eight teams.
  • After the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Airfield Damage Repair (ADR) team train the airmen, members of the Rapid Engineer Deployable, Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineer (RED HORSE) squadron use the materials, equipment and methods to repair craters during a simulated wet weather demonstration at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. The protective covers are placed the work underway to prevent dilution of the repair materials and over the repaired area to enable rapid set to take place.

    11-Step program repairs airfield damage

    The U.S. Air Force (USAF) is seeking technologies to repair 120 airfield craters in 6.5 hours using eight repair teams. Researchers with ERDC’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) are currently working with the Air Force Research Laboratory and the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center to develop the materials and techniques, tactics and procedures (TTP) to reach that goal.

  • ERDC contractors selected for award

    The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) recently selected the Mississippi Chapter as winner of the 2011-2012 Walter R. Graalman Award at the silver level. The NCMA Mississippi Chapter consists of professionals from ERDC, the USACE Vicksburg District, L-3 Communications, Jackson State University and Stark Aerospace.
