    As summer approaches, more people are heading out to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District parks and recreation areas. However, this year brings new safety concerns to keep in mind when recreating on USACE lands.

    HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (May 28, 2021) – Officials dedicated a .2-mile paved exercise trail May 25, 2021 at Rockland Recreation Area on the shoreline of Old Hickory Lake.
  • SUFFOLK, Va. -- A munition uncovered by contractors lays on the ground at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot on Dec. 2, 2005. In 1987 the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot became a matter of public concern when a piece of crystalline TNT was found at the Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth Campus. Extensive historical research, investigations, and testing led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to place this site on the National Priority list in 1999.     USACE hosts FNOD Restoration Advisory Board virtual meeting June 3

    SUFFOLK, Va. — Restoration efforts at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot (FNOD) remain an ongoing priority for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Community members can learn more about this Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) and hear the latest cleanup progress during the project’s quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) virtual meeting scheduled for 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. June 3 via Webex.

    Bluestone Partnership Meeting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District participated in a partnership meeting with Brayman Construction Company and leaders within the City of Hinton to review and discuss the progress of Bluestone Dam Safety Assurance Phase 5. The purpose of this meeting was to give all parties involved a chance to meet face-to-face and discuss issues or concerns they might have as the team moves forward with Phase 5.
