    Earlier this week, the Memphis District hosted a Flood Risk Management exercise involving multiple federal organizations including the Mississippi Valley Division. Mississippi Valley Division Commander Maj. Gen.     Flood risk management star recognition

You would expect all that’s been mentioned about what Jessica does is hard work and it is. However, if you ask her about it, you’ll get a different perspective. "I'm the lucky one here," Haas explains. "When you love what you do, it isn’t work anymore. It’s an honor to be around and interact with such a talented team of professionals every day. If this is a dream, I never want to wake up."

    With December’s Employee of the Month selection, the script is sort of flipped with the “Recognizer-in-Chief” being recognized! Congratulations to Jessica Haas on her well-earned recognition as Memphis District’s Employee of the Month for December 2022!

    Underwater wall construction serves as a stepping stone for major navigation construction project on Ohio River

    Imagine a retaining wall made of columns built into the bedrock of the Ohio River. The wall is only 50 feet long, but it pierces 25 to 40 feet into the ground -- completely underwater.
  • TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. – Jared Lopes (second from right), water resources planner for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, and Dr. Richard Styles, research oceanographer from the Engineer Research and Development Center Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, report their findings from their recently published ship wake study to the Tybee Island city council on Tybee Island, Ga. on Jan. 26, 2023. The study was set into motion amid concerns regarding the ongoing risk to beachgoers from vessel-generated wakes on Tybee Island’s northern shore.     Army’s Chief of Engineers visits USACE projects in the Southwest

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Commanding General Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon visited the Corps’ Albuquerque District, Jan. 24-25, to see project sites and meet with partners at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas.
