    Daisies plant wildflowers for Lake Cumberland National Volunteer Week

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 13, 2011) – National Volunteer week took place April 10-16, and Girl Scout Troop 1047 led by Tracey Strong of Monticello, Kentucky volunteered their service on Lake Cumberland’s Black Walnut Trail April 16.

  • Center Hill Lake highlighting National Safe Boating Week

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 12, 2011) – Memorial Day and boating season is fast approaching. With the warm weather, boaters are anxious about firing up the grill, setting up a tent with the family and getting out on the lake. Before launching a boat for the first time this season, take the time to check for all the required safety equipment, especially life jackets, and make sure all equipment is still in good condition.

  • MED’s Hangar Fire Protection TCX is in demand

    MED is home to the Technical Center of Expertise (TCX) for Hangar Fire Protection that provides FPE assistance throughout the country and the world through design and construction of fire protection systems, and participation in acceptance tests for aircraft hangars. The TCX provides services to the Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force, Army, Air Reserve, and the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Grisoli tours flooded area in Lake Barkley, Smithland, Paducah Kentucky

    KUTTAWA, Ky. (May 8, 2011) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations Maj. Gen. William T. Grisoli and Director of Contingency Operations and Homeland Security, Karen Durham-Aguilera, toured the Lake Barkley Dam and Power plant, the Kentucky Lock, the town of Smithland and Paducah, Ky., flood protection barriers, structures and pumping stations along the levees.

  • Dale Hollow Lake balances holding, spilling water

    CELINA, Tenn. (May 7, 2011) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District began spilling water today at Dale Hollow Dam on Obey River in Celina, Tenn., to preserve its capacity to store water.
