    Army Corps Completes Coastal Project Ahead of Schedule; Engages Community

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, recently completed placing 500,000 cubic yards of sand along 4,100 feet of coastline in Downtown Montauk on the eastern tip of Long Island in New York’s Suffolk County. With favorable weather conditions allowing for completion ahead of schedule, the $11.7 million project also refurbished dunes eroded by a series of storms.

    Survey & Mapping Employees Earn Army Corps’ Innovation Award for Unmanned Survey Vessel

    Army Corps of Engineers’ employees in the New York District’s Survey and Mapping Branch, Operations Division, have been recognized with the 2023 Innovation of the Year Award from Army Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C., a national honor recognizing outstanding accomplishments in engineering forwarding the mission and serving the Nation.

    New Safety Chief Inspires District to Reach for the Star in Safety Performance

    Vanessa Matheny, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District's (TAM) newly appointed Safety and Occupational Health Manager, started when TAM achieved its stage 3 certification in the Corps Safety and Occupational Health Management System (CE-SOHMS). Now she has set the district on a course to achieve another safety accolade, the Army’s Safety and Occupational Health Star Award.

    Park ranger awarded for outstanding work promoting water safety

    PADUCAH, Ky. (March 13, 2024) – Park Ranger Gabby Fontaine received the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division’s Water Safety Award during a workshop here March 5, 2024, for her outstanding work promoting water and boating safety at Old Hickory Lake during the 2023 recreation season.

    Cordell Hull Lake staff garners Water Safety Team Award

    PADUCAH, Ky. (March 13, 2024) – The staff at Cordell Hull Lake received the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division’s Water Safety Team Award during a workshop here March 5, 2024, for outstanding work in educating the public about being safe recreating in the water and boating on the lake.
