    Annual conference solicits feedback from supported agencies

    During February’s seventh annual Stakeholder Care Workshop, Europe District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, project delivery teams met with supported commands and agencies to discuss the last year and the way forward.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Commanding General and 54th Chief of Engineers Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite accepted the colors from the Transatlantic Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Robert Carlson, and passed them to Brig. Gen. David Hill the new Transatlantic Division Commander during a Change of Command and Change of Responsibility Ceremony July 14 at the division's headquarters in Winchester, Va. Simultaneously, Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald Johnson relinquished responsibility of his duties to Command Sgt. Maj. John Etter Jr.

  • Representatives from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District, Nashville District, Memphis District, and Vicksburg District signed a Memorandum of Agreement, June 28, to implement Standard Local Operating Procedures for Endangered Species (SLOPES) covering 44 species statewide in Mississippi.

    SLOPES agreement improves consultation process for USACE permits in Mississippi

    In an effort to improve consultation under the Endangered Species Act for the state of Mississippi, representatives from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Fish and Wildlife Service) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps of Engineers) Mobile District, Vicksburg District, Memphis District, and Nashville District signed a Memorandum of Agreement to implement Standard Local Operating Procedures for Endangered Species (SLOPES) on June 28. The SLOPES agreement includes 44 Federally-listed threatened and endangered species in the state of Mississippi. Four Corps of Engineers districts possessing regulatory authority in the state entered into the agreement with Fish and Wildlife Service making the implementation of this document the largest of its scope for the entire Corps of Engineers.

  • Wetland acquisition advances SHEP progress

    The Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP) continues to make progress, most recently demonstrated by the completion of another environmental mitigation requirement. After acquiring Abercorn Island in February, the Georgia Department of Transportation recently transferred the 2,080-acre property to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
