The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Louisville District celebrates Leadership Development Program graduations

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District celebrated the graduation of the participants of Leadership Development Program Level 1 July 12, and Level 2 on Aug. 4, at the Romano Mazzoli Federal Building in Louisville, Kentucky. Both Leadership Development Program Levels consist of 11-months of professional development to advance the students’ leadership skills through formal training, mentoring, and experiential learning. 
  • The U.S. Army observes Antiterrorism Awareness Month in August.

    'See something, say something'

    The Department of the Army designated August as Antiterrorism Awareness Month in 2010 to serve as a reminder of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and lead into National Preparedness Month, held annually in September.

    A SMART scholar

    In 2016, Warren Kadoya was finishing up his master’s at the University of Arizona in Tucson — looking for a job and aspiring to continue his education by pursing a doctorate in environmental engineering ― when his advisors encouraged him to apply to the Department of Defense’s (DoD) SMART Scholarship program. Kadoya was selected for the program by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) in Hanover, New Hampshire, and the experience enabled him to continue his education while simultaneously working in his field of study.
  • Kelsey Ciarrocca, a cartographer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District's Real Estate Division, was recently named USACE’s “Innovator of the Year” for her pioneering work with real-time data and Smartsheet—a cloud-based program. In a nutshell, she took large amounts of data, which would normally take days to process, and made it digestible for USACE and other entities to better work together. On top of that, Ciarrocca made the information accessible within fractions of a second.

  • Two researchers with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory assemble a newly engineered automated terrestrial laser scanning system (A-TLS) at Husky Drop Zone on Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The A-TLS is installed on a 12-foot-tall tower affixed with multiple lidar laser scanners, meteorological sensors and solar panels.
