The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division serves as USACE’s tip of the spear in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world, STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS, BUILDING CAPACITY, and ENHANCING SECURITY for our nation, allies, and partners. 

We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Chief, East Campus Integrated Program Office awarded Engineer of the Year

    Daria Van Liew, chief of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, East Campus Integrated Program Office is the recipient of the 2021 Headquarters Lt. Gen. Elvin “Vald” Heiberg, the third, Engineer of the Year Award.
  • On Monday, December 20, 2021, a retirement ceremony was held for William “Bill” R. Chapman III, who retired from his position as Chief of Operations for The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 36 years of civilian service.

    Chief of Operations, Bill Chapman, retires from the Corps with 36 years of civilian service. In his retirement ceremony, division leadership gifts Chapman with numerous gifts and awards, including the prestigious Bronze Order of De Fleury Medal.
  • Jesus Ramirez, Program Manager with Huntsville Center’s Fuels Program, recently completed Auburn University’s Competitive Professional Development Training Program in Building Construction. The certification program is a professional development partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Auburn University. By participating in the program, Ramirez earned enough course hours to receive a master’s in construction management.

    Certification program leads to academic degree for project manager

    Jesus Ramirez, Program Manager with Huntsville Center’s Fuels Program, recently completed a certification program that not only enhances Ramirez’ ability to contribute to Huntsville Center’s mission, but also added an academic degree to his accomplishments.

    ERDC, The University of Southern Mississippi work to re-establish Gulf reefs

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), the University of Kentucky and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) continue work on a three-year collaboration to create oyster reef habitat in the northern Gulf of Mexico for experimental purposes.

    Army Corps, Partners Celebrate Beginning of Construction for Major Long Island Coastal Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, Army Corps leadership and federal, state and local officials and partners, celebrated the commencement of construction on the Fire Island to Montauk Point (FIMP) Coastal Storm Risk Management Project during a formal ceremony at Fire Island Lighthouse on the Atlantic Ocean on Long Island’s south shore 50 miles east of New York City.
