LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Corps employee hits the slopes to assist adaptive skiers

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 26, 2017) – Individuals with special needs from the south eastern region of the United States spend time on the mountainous ski slopes every winter thanks to the help of many volunteers. A U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District team member often spends a portion of the winter at an eastern Tennessee ski resort supporting the free ski clinic for dozens of adaptive skiers.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District (USACE), Deputy Commander Lt. Col. Landon Raby addresses attendees during a public scoping meeting for the proposed Pascagoula River Drought Resiliency Project Jan. 24 at the George County Senior Citizens Building in Lucedale, Miss. During the meeting, the USACE collected public comments on the project that will be used in the development of an Environmental Impact Statement. More than 200 members of the public attended to voice their opinions on the project.

    USACE hosts public scoping meeting on proposed Pascagoula River Drought Resiliency Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District (USACE), hosted a public scoping meeting Jan. 24 at the George Country Senior Citizens Building in Lucedale, Miss. to solicit feedback from the public on a proposal to construct two water supply lakes in southeastern Mississippi. The applicants, the George County Board of Supervisors and the Pat Harrison Waterway District, filed a request with the USACE for a Department of the Army permit to construct the lakes back in August 2015.

    Col. Peter Helmlinger, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division, visited the Prado Dam Visitor Center in Corona, California, Jan. 18 for an update on the Santa Ana River Mainstem project and a tour of the dam’s recently modified embankment and outlet works.
  • Park Rangers from Alum Creek Lake and Delaware Lake participated in the Bishop Backer Community Day. Fans visited the booth to talk about boating and water safety and to discuss general questions about recreation around the lakes and the Corps mission. Corey the Safety Boat made his rounds reminding kids to learn to swim and wear a lifejacket.
