We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    Huntsville Center project manager goes where he’s most needed

  • Building 2205 is state-of-the-art, three-stories and will accommodate 168 enlisted personnel. The facility was planned to support Red-Flag Alaska – a series of field training exercises in a simulated combat environment for a large amount of permanent and temporary personnel. However, an anticipated influx of about 1,200 airmen following the arrival of 54 F-35A Joint Strike Fighter jets in 2020 made the additional living quarters a critical need.

    Technical Services Dive Team inspects the Chicago Fish Barrier

    In a cooperative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District and the Technical Services Dive Team, consisting of members from the Corps of Engineers Buffalo, New England, and Philadelphia, and Headquarters, dives were conducted to inspect the Chicago Fish Barrier and provide an overall condition assessment to Chicago District’s operation and maintenance teams. More specifically, the team was inspecting the condition of Barriers IIA and IIB and the parasitic structures located upstream and downstream of the barriers.

  • USACE Defers Dredging of Richmond Outer Harbor

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District will defer maintenance dredging of Richmond Outer Harbor in 2017 in order to remain in compliance with the Federal Standard.

  • USACE Water Manager awarded second highest civilian honor

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) South Atlantic Division Commander Brig. Gen. C. David Turner presented James E.Hathorn Jr., Mobile District Water Management Chief, with the U.S. Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award Jan. 30 in Mobile, Ala. The award is the second highest honor that a U.S. civilian is eligible to receive.
