    Army Corps of Engineers prepares for strong El Nino in Bay Area

    SAN FRANCISCO – From gauging water levels behind dams, insuring the durability of levees, to working with local communities, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in San Francisco has embarked on an extensive effort to prepare the Bay Area and its network of waterways, wetlands and reservoirs for the arrival of an El Nino weather pattern which forecasters warn could bring prolonged periods of heavy rain, mudslides and flooding to a region more accustomed to years of drought.
  • Forming San Gabriel River clean up plans

    A meeting was held Oct. 21 in the Duarte Historical Museum near the Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale, California, to discuss the complex issue of cleaning up the San Gabriel River before the rainy season gets here.

    More than 200 volunteers participated in events at four District project sites in observance of National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26, 2015.
  • Seasoned Engineer brings maintenance, navigation experience to Nashville District

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2015) – A new hire recently grabbed the helm of navigation and took charge of hydropower for the Nashville District, a move to increase oversight of navigation operations on the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers and power generation in the Cumberland River Basin.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District Contracting Division continues to lead the way. Earlier this year the contracting division was presented the Excellence in Contracting District of the Year Award by Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commanding general.
