We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

Her six-month project with ERDC's Environmental Laboratory will focus on researching new methods to analyze military contaminates and assist in creating accessible models.

    Researchers from 10 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Districts have been selected for the 2023 session of the Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U). Canda Lorson, a hydrologist with the New Orleans District, was chosen to participate in the detail program, now in its eighth year.

    MVN shares lessons learned with SWG Internal Review

    Within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Internal Review (IR) supports the local commander and their staff by improving programs and operations through independent analytical reviews and studies, or audits. After 14 years with USACE New Orleans District (MVN) IR, and 29 years of total audit experience, Donna Williams, MVN IR chief, has some lessons learned to share with new auditors, especially when it comes to conducting an audit during an Emergency Management response to a natural disaster. “The main idea for the emergency missions is to get in and do the work and get out,” Williams said. “The whole key is for us to stay out of the way, but what we do is extremely valuable.”

    Sustainable rivers program (SRP)

    The Sustainable Rivers Program improves the health and life of rivers by changing dam operations to restore and protect ecosystems, while maintaining or enhancing other project benefits. The SRP was first considered in 1998 when the Nature Conservancy approached the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about improved operations of the Green River Dam in Kentucky. SRP began in fiscal year 2002 with funding of $50,000 for environmental flows on the Green River.
