We SAFELY deliver agile, responsive, and innovative, design, construction, engineering and contingency solutions in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and other global partners to advance national security interests.

LAPSE IN DoW APPROPRIATIONS - Friday, October 3, 2025

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

 

A NEW CHAPTER: - Tuesday, August 5, 2025

On August 5, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially realigned mission oversight of USACE operations in support of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command from the Transatlantic Division to the Southwestern Division. This transition ensures continued, focused support to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the Levant. Both the Middle East District and the Transatlantic Expeditionary District remain fully operational and continue delivering engineering solutions that support regional stability and operational readiness. This is a new chapter, not a new identity. The mission – and the USACE legacy – continues.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Recovery Field Office Commander Col. Eric Swenson is joined by parents, community members and passersby to welcome back students as they were dropped off for their first day of school at the new King Kamehameha III Elementary School temporary campus installed by USACE. Swenson waved at smiling kids and parents thrilled to get to this milestone in the recovery process.

    April 1st a day for Lahaina’s young scholars to remember

    April 1, 2024 marks the first day that King Kamehameha III Elementary School students attend classes at the temporary replacement campus. The Lahaina school, damaged beyond repair in the Aug. 8, 2023, wildfires, became an important project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. After receiving a critical public facilities mission assignment from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, USACE handled the $78 million elementary school installation, subcontracting Pono Aina Management, a Native Hawaiian organization.

    The Charleston District visited the Memphis District at its Ensley Engineer Yard from March 21 to 22 to explore the capabilities of its world-class Marine Maintenance Facility. This meeting is just the beginning of a new, collaborative relationship that promises to deliver quality projects that are on time and within budget, and of great value. We accomplish this, in part, by overcoming challenges through teamwork, innovation, knowledge, technology, and collaboration. Visiting from the Charleston District were Deputy District Engineers for Programs and Project Management (DPM) Lisa Metheney and Project Manager Caleb Brewer with Charleston Commander Lt. Col. Robert Nahabedian joining the group virtually. Welcoming them from the Memphis District team were Deputy Commander Lt. Col. Collin Jones, DPM- Donny Davidson, Operations Division Chief Andrea Williams, Project Manager Jake Storz, Physical Support Branch Chief Kevin Woods.

We accomplish this, in part, by overcoming challenges through teamwork, innovation, knowledge, technology, and collaboration. The Charleston District visited the Memphis District at its Ensley Engineer Yard from March 21 to 22 to explore the capabilities of its world-class Marine Maintenance Facility. The positive meeting started a promising new collaborative relationship that will deliver greater value for the nation.

    A little sticker goes a long way: USACE district recognizes communication impacts

    A sticker may not seem like the most significant thing to give somebody, but at the Buffalo District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers it’s a sign of major impact. The end of March marked six-months of the district’s Clear Communicator Badge initiative, recognizing great people helping tell the USACE story with a simple, yet coveted sticker.
